Risk Manager at Kammarkollegiet

Do you want to use your skills in risk management in a context where your work makes a real difference? At Kammarkollegiet, you will work closely with other experienced risk managers in a close-knit team. You will help develop government agencies' risk management with a focus on insuring operations while gaining broad knowledge of government agencies' missions and work. Perhaps you are the one we are looking for!

The Insurance Department at Kammarkollegiet acts as the state’s insurance company, where we work with risk management and claims handling for government agencies and foundations. We manage insurance for areas such as operations, personnel, travel, and vehicles. The department consists of about 45 employees and is located in Karlstad, in a new activity-based office in Karolinen.

Our operations are in development, with an increased focus on risk work, analysis, and digitalization. This means that as a risk manager, you will have the opportunity to influence both the working methods and the content of the role.

Job Description

As a risk manager, you will be one of four colleagues in a team that works closely together and has a close collaboration in everyday life. The role combines individual responsibility with collegial dialogue, joint assessments, and continuous development of working methods and approaches.

You will work proactively and preventively close to those responsible at government agencies and support them in their systematic risk and safety work. The work includes both physical risks and risks related to behaviors and organization.

Your role includes, among other things:

  • planning, conducting, and following up on risk round visits to agencies
  • analyzing risks and providing well-founded recommendations and action proposals
  • compiling materials before and after risk round visits
  • contributing risk assessments as a basis for premium setting, terms, and ongoing dialogue
  • working closely with lawyers, claims adjusters, and insurance analysts on issues of insurability, terms, and safety regulations
  • contributing to the development of Kammarkollegiet's preventive risk work and risk awareness within the state

You will contribute to the development of the business by driving development initiatives, projects, and training aimed at the government sector together with colleagues.

Are you our new colleague?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • an academic degree as a risk or fire engineer, or another academic education in areas such as risk, safety, or technology that Kammarkollegiet deems relevant for the position,
  • at least three years of experience working with risk management and safety issues,
  • experience in independently working systematically with risk analyses and developing recommended measures

You may have worked in areas such as insurance, industry, real estate, government, or consulting. The most important thing is that you have good analytical skills and can translate risk analysis into practical and relevant measures.

A B driver's license is required as travel is included in the position.

The following are meritorious but not required:

  • work experience in risk management focusing on physical security, perimeter protection, and fire safety
  • experience in driving projects or training initiatives
  • experience in working strategically with preventive risk work

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who enjoys being out in operations and is confident in your professional role. You are analytical, structured, and have a holistic perspective in your work. You have a good ability to independently structure and plan your work while also enjoying collaborating with others, being communicative, pedagogical, and able to build trust.

You are clear in your communication, provide well-founded proposals, and are motivated by contributing to development – both in your own work and in the organization as a whole. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

More Information

The employment is a permanent position that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.

The work location is Karlstad with the possibility of remote work 1-2 days/week. The job involves about 15 trips per year, most of which are day trips. You have great opportunity to influence the planning and control when the trips are scheduled.
